Berlin is truly a shopper's paradise and every part of the city offers something special for shopping enthusiasts and travellers.

One of the best known shopping boulevards in Berlin is Kurfrstendamm or Ku'damm and the neighbouring Tauentzienstrae. These elegant streets boast of many international labels like Benetton, Zara and H & M. A little further down the road and visitors will find the more exclusive fashion brands like Yves Saint Laurant and Jil Sanders. Berlin is also home to many shopping avenues and designer boutiques, especially along Fasanenstrasse and around the Uhlandstrasse station. A definite must-see in this area is the Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe) on Tauentzienstrasse, which is the biggest department store in all of Europe.

Another place that is definitely worth a visit by shopping enthusiasts is the Schnhauser Allee, which is a main road in the Prenzlauer Berg. The road is filled with many stylish and smart boutiques selling clothes, jewellery and various accessories. These boutiques also sell a number of handmade goods such as leather handbags, shows, and handicrafts.

The Schnhauser Shopping Arcade is one of the best places in Berlin to find several international brands under one roof. The best part about shopping in the Schnhauser Shopping Arcade is that the shops are open late.

For travellers who would like to experience a completely unique clothing style, the Heckmannhfe on Oranienburger Strasse features a large range of innovative clothing stores like Hut Up, Nix and Sterling Gold where you can find anything from second hand cocktail dresses to urban-chic clothing and accessories. This area even has a store that is dedicated to East Berlin's famous walk/don't walk symbol.

Even if you are only interested in window-shopping, you can stroll through the different shopping boulevards in Berlin, and take a break at one of the numerous quaint cafs that line the streets. Most of the shops in Berlin are open from Monday to Saturday between 10 am and 8 pm, while some shops even work on Sundays.

If you are looking to have an interesting shopping experience in Berlin, it is best to make a visit to the city's unique markets. The Winterfeldtplatz fruit and vegetable market is the most famous of its kind in Berlin and is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm. Along the Strasse des 17 Juni there is an interesting Trdelmarkt or flea market that is open over the weekend from 11 am to 5 pm.
